    Getting Started

    First-Time Setup Checklist

Essential configuration steps after your first login.

Welcome to SeqOps! This checklist will guide you through the essential steps to configure your account and start monitoring your infrastructure. We recommend completing these steps in order for the best experience.

    1. Complete Your Profile

Start by setting up your personal profile:

    1. Click your avatar or name in the top-right corner and go to Settings.
    2. Under the Profile tab, fill in your first name, last name, and phone number.
    3. Upload a profile picture (optional but helps with team collaboration).
    4. Set your timezone — this ensures all timestamps and scheduled reports align with your local time.
    5. Set your preferred language — the platform will adapt its interface accordingly.
    6. Click Save Changes.

    2. Secure Your Account

Before inviting others or connecting infrastructure, secure your own account:

    1. Go to Settings → Security.
    2. Change your password if you signed up with a temporary one.
    3. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA):
      • •TOTP (Authenticator App) — Scan the QR code with an app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password. Enter the verification code to activate.
      • •Email MFA — Enable email-based one-time codes as a backup or primary MFA method. You will need to verify your email address first.
    4. Generate an API key if you plan to use the SeqOps API. Copy and securely store the key — it is only shown once.

    3. Deploy Your First Agent

Get visibility into your server infrastructure:

    1. Open Server → Activation and register your first server.
    2. Copy the server's Tenant ID, Server ID, and Registration Token from View API Secrets.
    3. Install the agent and register it with the provisioning helper (see the SeqOps Agent Installation Guide for detailed steps).
    4. Confirm the server is visible in Server List and the agent services are running.
    5. Allow 6–24 hours for server data to appear.

Your first vulnerability scan will run automatically after registration.

    4. Connect Your Cloud Accounts

If you have cloud infrastructure, connect it for continuous scanning:

    1. Navigate to Cloud from the left sidebar.
    2. Click Activate to begin the cloud connection process.
    3. Follow the guided setup for your provider:
      • •AWS — Create an IAM user access key and an IAM role in the same account, then enter the Account Tag, Access Key ID, Secret Access Key, Default Region, and Role ARN.
      • •Azure — Register an application with a client secret and the Reader role on the subscription.
      • •GCP — Create a service account with the Viewer role and a JSON key, and enable the Cloud Resource Manager and Compute Engine APIs. The exact permissions are listed in Minimum Permissions Required for Cloud Connect.
    4. Once connected, allow 6–24 hours for resource inventory, vulnerability checks, and severity breakdowns to populate.

Your plan determines how many cloud connections you can have (Core: 1, Edge: 3, Max: 5).

    5. Review Your Security Dashboard

Once you have at least one agent or cloud account connected:

    1. Return to the Dashboard (click the SeqOps logo or Dashboard in the sidebar).
    2. Review your Tactical Overview — this shows your total vulnerabilities, severity distribution, and overall security score.
    3. Check the Module Distribution card to see how vulnerabilities are spread across your connected assets.
    4. Look at the Recent Events feed for any initial findings.

    6. Configure Alert Preferences

Set up how you want to be notified about security events:

    1. Go to Notifications from the left sidebar.
    2. Configure your notification preferences:
      • •Choose which severity levels trigger email notifications.
      • •Enable or disable in-app notification badges.
      • •Set up custom notification categories for different types of events.
    3. Visit Alert HQ to see any alerts that have already been generated from your initial scans.

    7. Invite Your Team

Security is a team effort. Add your colleagues:

    1. Go to Team from the left sidebar.
    2. Click Invite Member and enter their email address.
    3. Choose a role for the person, for example Admin, Billing Admin, Subscription Admin, SOC Analyst or Member. See Inviting Teammates and Understanding Roles.
    4. The invited person will receive an email with a link to join your organisation.

Your plan determines how many team members you can have (Core: 3, Edge: 5, Max: Unlimited).

    8. Review Compliance Baseline

If your plan includes compliance features:

    1. Navigate to Compliance from the left sidebar.
    2. Review your initial compliance score across connected cloud accounts.
    3. Identify which framework controls are passing and failing.
    4. Prioritise remediation of critical compliance gaps.

    9. Explore Reports

    Generate your first security report:

    1. Go to Reports from the left sidebar.
    2. Generate an on-demand report to capture your current security posture.
    3. Export the report as PDF for sharing with stakeholders or for your records.

    10. Set Up Billing (if not already configured)

Ensure your billing is set up for uninterrupted service:

    1. Go to Billing from the left sidebar.
    2. Verify your current plan and usage.
    3. Add or update your credit card under Credit Card Management.
    4. Review your invoice history.

    You're All Set!

Your SeqOps environment is now configured and actively monitoring your infrastructure. SeqOps will continuously check for vulnerabilities and misconfigurations and alert you to security issues.

    Recommended next steps:

    • •Deploy agents on additional servers to expand your coverage.
    • •Connect additional cloud accounts if you use multiple providers.
    • •Explore the Event Explorer for detailed log analysis.
    • •Review Security News regularly for emerging threats relevant to your environment.
