Deploying Agents at Scale
How agent rollout works today, one server at a time, and how to plan it across many servers.
SeqOps server agents are registered and installed one server at a time. Each server gets its own credential set, and each installation is registered individually with the provisioning helper. There is currently no bulk registration API, Terraform integration, or other infrastructure-as-code module for agent deployment.
How Rollout Works Today
For every server:
- Register the server in Server → Activation.
- Copy that server's Tenant ID, Server ID, and Registration Token from View API Secrets.
- Download the agent package, install the services, and run the provisioning helper.
- Verify that the agent services are running.
The full steps are in the SeqOps Agent Installation Guide.
Planning a Rollout Across Many Servers
- •Check capacity first. Every installed agent uses one server agent slot on your plan. Confirm you have enough slots before you start. See Choosing Your Plan.
- •Register close to installation. A credential set is valid for roughly 7 days and can be used once. Register servers in batches you can install within that window.
- •Download packages when you need them. The agent download link expires after about 3 minutes.
- •Open outbound access in advance. Agents only need outbound HTTPS. See Running the Agent Behind a Proxy or Firewall.
- •Allow time for data. Each server's data appears within 6–24 hours of a successful installation.
