Capacity Limits & Grace Periods
Understand how SeqOps capacity limits work, what happens when you reach 100% of a limit, and how the 24-hour grace period gives you time to act.
Every SeqOps plan includes limits on agents, cloud connectors, users, storage, and API calls. SeqOps monitors usage against these limits and notifies you as you approach them. Reaching 100% of a limit doesn't cut off your access immediately — a grace period gives you time to upgrade or free up capacity first.
Overview
SeqOps tracks usage for five resource types: agents, cloud connectors, users, storage, and API calls per month. Usage is checked continuously against your plan's limits, and notifications are sent as you approach 100%.
Usage Thresholds & Notifications
- •60%, 75%, 85%, 95%, 99% — Notifications are sent at each threshold by email and in-app, showing current usage and the resource approaching its limit.
- •100% — A 24-hour grace period begins for that resource (see below). Agents and cloud connectors work differently.
The 24-Hour Grace Period
When a resource reaches 100% of its plan limit, SeqOps starts a 24-hour grace period for that resource. During this time:
- •Everything already running continues to work normally — existing agents, connectors, data, and monitoring are unaffected.
- •You can still add new capacity for that resource during the grace period while you upgrade your plan or free up space.
- •A notification states exactly which resource is affected, the exact deadline, and how to resolve it.
If usage drops back under the limit before the 24 hours are up — by upgrading or removing usage — the grace period ends immediately and normal limits apply again.
After the Grace Period
If usage is still at or above 100% when the grace period ends, new additions of that specific resource are blocked until you upgrade your plan or free up capacity. Everything else — existing usage, monitoring, and your other resources — continues to work normally.
One Grace Period Per Resource, Per Billing Cycle
Each resource gets one grace period per billing cycle. If you use your grace period and reach 100% again before your next billing cycle starts, new additions are blocked immediately — there's no second grace period until renewal.
Agents & Cloud Connectors
Agents and cloud connectors work a little differently from your other resources. Reaching 100% of your agent or cloud connector limit doesn't come with a grace period, because everything you already have connected keeps running as-is — there's no urgent action required. You can add more once you upgrade your plan.
Partner Accounts
Partners have their own capacity model, based on allocation rather than usage: assigning a Customer package deducts that package's full Server Agent and Cloud Connector entitlement from the partner package immediately. Partners are notified at 80% of allocated capacity so they can upgrade ahead of time. When there isn't enough capacity left for a new Customer's package, the partner can't invite more customers until they upgrade. SeqOps never upgrades a partner package or charges without the partner's confirmation. See How Partner Capacity Works.
Managing Your Usage
To review current usage or resolve a capacity limit:
- •Open your account's usage page to see current usage per resource against your plan.
- •Upgrade your plan to add capacity immediately.
- •Or remove unused agents, cloud connectors, or data to free up space — the usage page shows exactly what to remove to fit your current plan.
Best Practices
- •Review usage regularly rather than waiting for a 95% notification.
- •Make sure notifications reach more than one person on your team, so capacity warnings aren't missed if one person is out.
- •If you're consistently near a limit, consider upgrading proactively rather than relying on the grace period.
