Uninstalling or Decommissioning the Agent
The difference between deactivating and deleting a server in SeqOps, and what each does to capacity and history.
Deactivating a server in SeqOps does not free its capacity slot. Only deleting the server frees the slot — and deleting can permanently remove the server's historical data.
Deactivate vs. Delete
| Deactivate or disable | Delete | |
|---|---|---|
| Frees the agent capacity slot | No — the server still occupies it | Yes |
| Lets you add a replacement server | No, if you're at your limit | Yes |
| Keeps the server's history | Yes | No — history can be permanently removed |
Deleting a server can permanently remove its findings, vulnerabilities, configuration information, detections, and reports.
Before You Delete a Server
- Export any reports or findings you need to keep. See Exporting Audit-Ready Compliance Reports.
- Confirm that nobody still needs the server's history, for example for an audit.
- Delete the server in SeqOps.
